It’s summer road trip time! That means something entirely different today than it did 2 years ago. Now that we have a toddler riding in the back seat,we have a whole new approach to road trips. The car is loaded with silly music, lots of books, we’re even going to give crayons a try. I’ve mapped all the rest stops along the highways for our 7-hour road trip. I have all of Ava’s meals planned for the day, and hopefully we will make it there without everyone in the car screaming and crying.
Part of the fun of road trips is stopping at little hole-in-the-wall gas stations along little country roads to pick up some snacks, but these days I’m just not feeling that. Plus if Ava is asleep we will NOT be stopping! So I mixed up some trail mix for Chad and I to munch on during our drive.
- 1/2 cup Walnut halves
- 1/2 cup Peanuts (I went for the dry roasted…they were on sale)
- 1/2 cup Pumpkin Seeds
- 1/4 cup Dried Cranberries
- 1/4 cup Chocolate Chips or Chocolate Candies
- 1/4 cup Yogurt Covered Raisins
Simply measure and stir together the 1/2 cup walnuts…
I mixed it up and tossed it into a zip top bag so this trail mix can be easily tossed from the front seat to the back seat.
P.S. I couldn’t resist adding a few pictures of my little helper. Ava was fascinated with the cooler and played with it while I made the trail mix.
