Lactation Station

This is for all you Milk Makin’ Mamas out there!!!  Holla!!!

BUT wait these are tasty treats ANYONE can eat.

If you know a breastfeeding mom, why not make her one (or all) of these treats!

 First of all let me say that breastfeeding is not the easiest thing in the world.  It takes a lot of time and wardrobe malfunctions are a common occurrence.  The benefits of breastfeeding are incredible and worth every bit of effort!  So reward yourself and boost your supply with these recipes and these milk-boosting treats.

 Lactation Oat Balls

  • 3/4 cup Peanut Butter (or any kind of nut butter)
  • 1 3/4 cup Oats
  • 1/4 cup Flax Seeds
  • 1/4 cup Brewer’s Yeast
  • 1/4 cup Chia Seeds
  • 1/3 cup Honey or Agave Nectar
  • 1/4 cup Applesauce
  • 1/2 cup Mini Chocolate Chips

Mix it all together, form into balls and chill in the fridge.

 Sunbutter Lactation Cookies

  • 1/2 cup Coconut Oil (or Butter)
  • 1/2 cup Sunflower Seed Butter (you could use any nut butter but the sunflower seed butter is amazing!)
  • 1/2 cup Honey
  • 1/2 Brown Sugar
  • 1 Egg
  • 1/2 tsp Vanilla
  • 1 1/4 cup Flour (I used 3/4 cup Whole Wheat Flour and 1/2 cup All Purpose)
  • 1/2 tsp Baking Powder
  • 1/2 tsp Baking Soda
  • 1/4 cup Brewer’s Yeast
  • 1/4 cup Chia Seeds
  • 1/2-3/4 cup Chocolate Chips

Preheat the oven to 375 degrees.  In a small bowl combine the flour, baking powder, baking soda, yeast and chia seeds.  In a larger bowl stir together the coconut oil, sunbutter, honey and brown sugar.  Add in the egg and vanilla.  Then stir in the dry ingredients.  Fold in the chocolate chips.  Drop tablespoon-sized portions onto a cookie sheet and bake for 7-10 minutes.

NOTE: The consistency of the dough can vary depending on how solid or liquid your coconut oil is.  If the dough does not seem firm like regular cookie dough, just pop it in the fridge and allow it to set up a bit and it will be much easier to work with.

Chocolate Lactation Treats

  • 1 cup Peanut Butter
  • 1/2 cup Coconut Oil (no substitutes here)
  • 1/3 cup Honey
  • 1 cup Chocolate Chips
  • 2 1/2 cup Oats
  • 1/4 cup Brewer’s Yeast
  • 1/4 cup Chia Seeds
  • Optional add ins – 1/4 cup walnuts, 1/4 cup coconut

Melt the peanut butter and coconut oil on the stovetop.  Stir in the chocolate until melted.  Add the honey.  Stir in the remaining ingredients.  Scoop into mini muffin tins lined with paper.  Or pour into an 8×8 dish to make bars.  Cover and refrigerate until firm.  12-24 hours.

These are my favorite!  They do not last long….because we eat them all!!

    i have lots of milk (omg, the first day i got home from the hospital, my breast looked like melons! lol). still, these look yummy. i can make them without the brewer’s yeast. good luck to all the other mammas.
